How to Install NinjaTrader 8 (Free Setup Guide, 2026)

NinjaTrader 8 is free to download, chart, and sim-trade — forever. This is the same setup our customers use to run Edge Panel against prop firm accounts. Plan on about 10 minutes end to end.

Why NinjaTrader 8?

Step 1 — Create your free NinjaTrader account

Open a free account. NinjaTrader Brokerage will not charge you anything until you fund the account, and you do not have to fund it to chart or sim-trade.

1. Click Get NinjaTrader 8 and complete the brief sign-up form.
2. Download the NinjaTrader 8 installer from the email you receive.
3. Run the installer. It walks you through everything; defaults are fine for most people.

Step 2 — Connect a data feed

NinjaTrader is just the platform. To see live prices you need a data feed. The most common starting point is Kinetick, which offers a free real-time trial covering CME futures (ES, NQ, MES, MNQ, RTY, YM, CL, GC, and more).

1. Sign up at Kinetick.
2. In NinjaTrader, open the Control Center → Connections → Configure.
3. Pick Kinetick from the list, paste your Kinetick credentials, save.
4. Click Connections → Kinetick (Free). The data feed activates within seconds.

If you are evaluating with a prop firm (Apex, FTMO, Topstep, Earn2Trade, MyFundedFutures), they will issue their own data feed credentials when you start an evaluation — usually Rithmic. You will use those instead of Kinetick once you are in evaluation.

Step 3 — Install Edge Panel

Edge Panel is our NinjaTrader 8 trading panel — live position metrics, quick-action chips, prop firm guardrails, multi-account monitoring. It runs as a NinjaScript add-on that loads automatically when NT8 starts.

1. Buy a license at edgetradetools.com/ninjatrader-edge-panel. You receive a license key + EdgePanel.zip by email.
2. In NinjaTrader 8, open the Control Center → Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On.
3. Select the EdgePanel.zip file from your email. NinjaTrader compiles and loads it.
4. Open any chart. Edge Panel docks in the right sidebar. Click the key icon at the top of the panel and paste your license key. The panel unlocks immediately.
